Terms of reference for the recruitment of a sales engineer

The government's 2020-2025 roadmap places digitalization at the heart of Togo's development. For its rapid implementation, the Government is committed to ensuring that 95% of Togolese have access to very high-speed Internet by 2025.

Société d'Infrastructures Numériques (SIN), created in 2016 and wholly owned by the State, is participating in the collective effort to achieve this goal by collaborating with the Ministry of the Digital Economy and Digital Transformation on its mission of digital development of the Togolese territory, by facilitating access to high-speed connectivity infrastructures.

SIN's main mission is to own and operate high-speed telecommunications infrastructures, including the Lomé Data Centre (LDC), in order to improve Internet connectivity in Togo, lower Internet access prices and create a favorable environment for the digital economy sector. In accordance with the legal and regulatory provisions applicable in Togo, SIN is required to set up viable public-private partnerships for the operation, management and maintenance of the assets in its possession.

In order to achieve its objectives, SIN aims to build a team of highly competent profiles. The present terms of reference are drawn up for the recruitment of a Sales Engineer to work within SIN and more specifically, the LDC.

A.   Job objective

Job purposeThe Sales Engineer is responsible for selling colocation services, hosting, connectivity and other data center solutions to telecom operators, internet service providers, public administrations, companies and private organizations, both nationally and internationally. He/she will develop the customer portfolio, devise effective sales strategies, identify new growth opportunities and meet revenue targets. He/she will play a key role in identifying prospects, negotiating/concluding/monitoring contracts and building customer loyalty.

B.    Responsibility and tasks

Reporting directly to the Head of the Lomé Data Centre and working closely with SIN's General Management, the Sales Engineer is responsible for implementing the sales development strategy for digital services, including colocation, hosting, connectivity, fiber optics, cloud and value-added services.

He or she is responsible for achieving sales targets, customer satisfaction and the sustainable growth of SIN's sales portfolio in general and LDC in particular.

The Sales Engineer is responsible for the following tasks:

1.       Sales development and prospecting

  • Identify, target and actively prospect new customers (SMEs, large corporations, telecom operators, ISPs, public institutions, NGOs, start-ups, etc.);
  • Develop and execute ambitious business development strategies to increase sales of data center services and connectivity infrastructure;
  • Participate in professional events, trade shows, conferences and industry platforms to promote the SIN offering;
  • Use CRM tools effectively to track prospects, leads, conversion opportunities and sales progress;
  • Proactively detect sales opportunities and develop account plans by segment or strategic customer.

2.       Sales, negotiation and contracting

  • Present the data center's service offerings to potential customers in a personalized manner and respond to their specific needs;
  • Develop competitive and technically aligned sales proposals, in collaboration with internal teams;
  • Negotiate contractual terms (rates, SLAs, deadlines, payment terms) in line with internal policies;
  • Ensure the signature and follow-up of customer contracts through to commissioning of services.
  • Convert prospects into long-term customers, ensuring a qualitative commitment from the earliest stages of the relationship.

3.       Customer portfolio management and after-sales relations

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to foster loyalty and cross-selling opportunities;
  • Monitor service quality in coordination with the technical and operations teams, and ensure that commitments are met;
  • Respond quickly and effectively to customer complaints and needs, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction;
  • Implement structured customer loyalty actions targeted by customer segment.

4.       Market analysis, competitive intelligence and strategic positioning

  • Analyze market trends, customer expectations and industry developments to adjust sales strategy;
  • Actively monitor competitive offers, pricing models, innovations and differentiation levers;
  • Participate in defining pricing policies and commercial conditions in line with the market;
  • Propose recommendations to improve service offerings in line with market trends and customer feedback;
  • Detect all sales opportunities, in particular through effective networking and account planning.

5.       Performance monitoring and reporting

  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets set by general management;
  • Provide regular, structured sales reporting (prospecting, opportunities in progress, sales achieved, revenue projections);
  • Contribute to the analysis of overall sales strategy performance and suggest areas for improvement;
  • Collaborate with support functions (technical, legal, finance, operations) to ensure consistency between commercial commitment and operational execution.

C.    Profile

1.       Professional training and experience

  • Hold a BAC+5 level degree in commerce, marketing, sales action, sales force, business administration or other discipline with strong practical experience in commerce and marketing, obtained from a recognized university;
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years' professional experience in selling technology solutions, preferably in data center, cloud, telecommunications or connectivity services;
  • Demonstrated experience in B2B sales, contract negotiation and customer portfolio management;
  • Togolese nationality;
  • Be no more than 40 years old.

2.       Skills required

  • Have a good understanding of data center infrastructures, colocation services, cloud hosting, fiber optics and companies' needs in terms of connectivity and hosting;
  • Ability to explain complex technical solutions to a non-technical audience;
  • Master the techniques of consultative selling, prospecting, negotiation and defining customized sales offers;
  • Excellent knowledge of sales and marketing strategies, with a strong customer focus;
  • Be experienced in the use of CRM software, particularly Odoo or any other customer relationship management system;
  • Comfortable writing sales proposals and responding to calls for tender.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in French, with a good command of professional English;
  • Demonstrate flexibility, intellectual agility, autonomy, organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Be motivated by the achievement of results and the continuous improvement of service quality.

4.       Job specifications

  • Location of assignment/position: Lomé - Togo ;
  • Nature of contract and duration of assignment: Fixed-term contract for one (1) year, renewable and may lead to an open-ended contract;
  • Candidate availability: Immediate ;
  • Remuneration: Competitive, depending on profile and experience.
